Walkathon to battle homelessness, hunger

The Rincon High School National Honor Society is joining with the Giving Tree Outreach Program to host the inaugural "Walk, Don't Run!" walkathon Saturday.
The event is part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Admission is $3 or three cans of food. The event begins with registration at 9 a.m. at Rincon High School, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd.
At 10 a.m., participants will walk to 22nd Street and Columbus Boulevard to prepare a meal for the homeless.
The meal will be followed by a party from noon to 2 p.m. featuring food, live music, a jumping castle and clothing giveaway.
