Santa Rita star point guard Terrell Stoglin committed Wednesday night to play at Maryland, but the lifelong University of Arizona fan said it isn't entirely out of the question he might consider taking an offer from UA if its new coach extends one.

Stoglin said he is very much committed to Maryland and coach Gary Williams, who has very much been involved in the recruitment of Stoglin since his sophomore season. But the 6-foot Santa Rita star also acknowledged he is very much interested to see who takes the UA job and basically gave me a you-never-know sort of response when I asked him about the possibility of playing for the Wildcats.
Before he took a job with John Calipari at Memphis, and now Kentucky, former UA assistant coach Josh Pastner was the main recruiter locally of Stoglin and has kept in touch with him over the past year. Stoglin, who is very fond of Pastner, said he congratulated him on the Kentuck job this week.
Stoglin, stepped up his game quite a bit over the past year, is a pass-first point guard asked to score first at the high school level, has led his team to three straight state title games and has been at his best against the best competition he's faced. Two of his best games over the past two seasons came while being guarded by current USC freshman DeMar Derozan (in winter of 2007) and Abdul Gaddy (winter 2008) in prestigious national tournaments in San Diego. Stoglin scored 35 on DeRozan and 30 on Gaddy.
Stoglin averaged 27.8 points per game this year and is a two time Tucson Citizen Player fo the Year.
