The University of Arizona and Universidad de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, agreed Wednesday to work together on global issues by sharing students and faculty expertise.

Carlos BriseƱo, the Guadalajara university's president, was in Tucson to sign an agreement between the schools.

UA President Robert N. Shelton created UA's Office of Western Hemispheric Programs last fall. This collaboration between the schools was developed by that office.

It will allow students to attend either university. Tuition paid at one institution will be honored by the other.

The universities will tackle global issues such as access to health care, according to a news release from UA.

Right on Marc. This is a very important partnership that bodes well for both Universities. I studied in Guadalajara in the 60s and I lived in there for two years in the 80s. In my opinion, it is one of the great cities of the Western Hemisphere with major business and academic organizations.

I wish people could put aside their prejudices and xenophobia, and recognize what very positive things a partnership of this nature offers both Mexico and the United States.

Congratulations to the UA for getting this going.

Why cant people like Randy L stop crying about everything. First you complain if people come here illegally to do the work that no other citizen wants to make. Now you complain that actual students who have clear views and goals can come here and study. Are you blind or what. Dont you know that just as many American students go on study abroad trip every semester to Mexico and im sure these same students will take the same oportunity and decide to study in Guadalajara. I just dont how you complain about how these 'ilegals' are all thugs and drug dealers but turn around and then complain that these same 'ilegals' want to study. Give it a BREAK!!!
