Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and assistant Tim Kish aren't going anywhere.
That is the word from Wildcats coach Mike Stoops, despite recent published reports that Mark Stoops is headed to Miami and Kish may leave for Northwestern.
Sporting News reported last week that Mark Stoops was the top candidate for defensive coordinator at the University of Miami. The Hurricanes fired Tim Walton after the season.
"That is not worth talking about. We are not going to let him go," Mike Stoops said Monday. "Blood is thick."
The Miami Herald heard some of the same buzz, but Mike Stoops, whose team is coming off a 5-7 record, said that change won't be made.
"Mark has really progressed through the years here and has really become more comfortable in this system," Mike Stoops said. "It is a good system for us and for him to coach."
Mark Stoops is friends with Miami coach Randy Shannon and has worked with him. Mark was the secondary coach of the Hurricanes before joining his brother at Arizona after the 2003 season.
The Daily Herald newspaper in Chicago reported that Kish, the Wildcats linebacker coach, could be a candidate for Northwestern's defensive coordinator spot.
"I don't think there is any validity to that," Mike Stoops said. "I have not talked to either school (Northwestern or Miami)."
Mike Stoops said he was in no hurry to fill the receiver position that came open in December when Darrell Wyatt left to become the offensive coordinator at Southern Mississippi.
The vacancy might not be filled until after recruit signing day Feb. 6.
"This is the best I have felt about the staff," Mike Stoops said. "We are much stronger and more balanced. We want to keep our continuity. I really feel we are close to turning this thing around."

Coulda sworn we heard that last year. Oh well, keep as many Stooges as possible. Go recruit some more, they've done so well for you.
GO DEVILS!!!!!
