An altar is on display at the University of Arizona, honoring illegal immigrants who died while crossing the desert.
UA BookStores worked with the Mexican Consulate to bring the altar to campus. It will be on display at the store, 1209 E. University Blvd., through Nov. 10.
The altar display is also to commemorate Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, the centuries-old Mexican tradition marked today and tomorrow.
Anselmo Rascon's photography will be on display as part of the memorial. The university will hold a sale of Rascon's artwork from 1 to 2 p.m. tomorrow.
To culminate the events Nov. 10, the university will feature a mariachi band, folklorico dancers and a reading by popular novelist Luis Alberto Urrea from noon to 6 p.m.
