Beginning Monday, Carondelet Health Network's two Tucson hospitals and health clinics will no longer allow smoking.
Patients, visitors and employees will not be able to smoke inside or outside the facilities, said Jihane Rohrbacker, a spokeswoman for Carondelet.
The new rule at St. Mary's and St. Joseph's hospitals is part of Carondelet's efforts to promote the health of employees, patients and their families and friends.
Facilities in Green Valley and Nogales are included in the ban.
No tobacco will be permitted on the grounds of the facilities, including inside vehicles in parking lots and at any office operated off-site by Carondelet.
