Our Opinion: Leading citizens
Tucson Citizen
Congratulations to Founders Award winner Cressworth C. Lander and to Dave Sitton and Jan Lesher, named man and woman of the year by the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
Lander heads the Dunbar Coalition, seeking to turn the former Dunbar School into an African-American museum and youth center.
He also works with Park Villa Casitas to develop affordable housing in the South Park neighborhood and serves on many other boards as a community volunteer.
Lesher, head of Gov. Janet Napolitano’s southern Arizona office, is active with the Community Food Bank, schools and children’s associations and long has been recognized for her community service.
Sitton, who recently overcame lymphoma, is a long-time University of Arizona sports announcer and does volunteer work for children’s medical research, the Catholic Diocese of Tucson, the Davis-Monthan 50 and the Arizona Cancer Center. The three are outstanding members of our community, supporting important causes and improving our society.
We thank them for their efforts.
