Sabino High School controlled its Class 4A Division I football playoff game against Tempe McClintock with an amazing defensive effort at home Friday night.

The Sabercats allowed the visiting Chargers 127 yards of total offense and nine first downs and forced four interceptions in a 42-0 win.

Sabino will face Ironwood Ridge in the second round next week.

Senior defensive back Travis Graham had three interceptions and deflected six passes.

"It feels great. We played great,'' Graham said. "My job was to shut down (wide receiver Malcolm) Martin and I kept my eyes open." Martin had three catches for 88 yards.

Sabercats junior Mark Dragosolovich intercepted a pass to end the game and also scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard fumble return. Sabino's defensive line also contributed by sacking the Chargers' quarterbacks six times, twice by junior defense lineman Jason Nottingham.

Sabino's senior quarterback, Justin Randall, threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another in the first half.

With two minutes left in the first quarter, Randall threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to senior Sam Sharawara.

"I was looking for Sam to be open the entire play," Randall said. "He did a great job because I actually overthrew him, so I give him all the credit."

Sabino running back Chris Lundgren rushed for 119 yards.

"Our defense set the tone for us," Sabino coach Jay Campos said. "In order to win a championship you need to have a great defense and tonight we had that."
